SOFT FURNISH

This collection began after a pause. A return, but not through familiar materials.

Instead of fabrics, I turned to a department store. Quilts, curtains, throw blankets. Objects made for interiors, not for the body. I was drawn to them, to their textures, their weight, their quiet functionality.

Cutting into them felt different. Each carried its own logic, its own purpose. Through reconstruction, those functions shifted. What was meant to cover a bed or frame a window began to move with the body.

The process was playful, but also revealing. Working with materials not intended to be worn opened up a new way of thinking about garments, not just as clothing, but as recontextualized objects.

Designed for and showcased in FDL x NYFW SS’23.
